I can’t steal Nigeria’s money – Peter Obi says he is richer than US President, Joe Biden

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has stated that he cannot steal Nigerian’s money if he becomes president in 2023 because he is richer than the President of the United States, Joe Biden.

According to reports, the former Anambra State Governor who made the assertion in a Twitter video on Sunday, September 4, 2022, insisted he was way richer than Biden who is worth $8.9m, because God has “over blessed” him.

In the video where Obi is seen addressing a crowd of supporters at an event in the US, he said: “If I take public money that I’m not entitled to, God should punish my children and me, not because of anything but God gave me enough.

“I say to people, President Biden is worth 8.9 million USD. Why should somebody like me steal public money when I am richer than the American President? I am already over-blessed by God. We just need to develop our country.

“I’m not looking for a private jet, sophisticated house or to buy a house in America because I can’t live in America.

“What we are doing is not about the normal politics or contesting elections,” Obi said.

Meanwhile, ahead of the official commencement of political campaigns, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu, has said that he will not exchange insults with other political parties.

The former Lagos state governor stated this during his meeting with APC’s Northern State lawmakers in Abuja on Saturday, September 3, 2022.

He noted that APC is a smarter party, urging members not to be bothered about the opposition.

According to Tinubu: “We shall not be hauling abuses at rival political parties.

“We don’t need it; we are smarter, we are brilliant, we are courageous.

“We are not like them. Why do we have to worry about them?

“But just wait for the calendar, the day of the voting.”

Also speaking, Tinubu’s running mate, Kashim Shettima, appealed to the North to support the APC presidential candidate ahead of the 2023 elections.

Shettima said Tinubu was instrumental to the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.

He noted that 2023 was the time for the North to pay Tinubu back for supporting Buhari.

“This is payback time,” Shettima said.
