PDP ABANDON ATIKU? PARTY TURN ATTENTION TO 2023- APC GOVERNOR STRUCK DEAL WITH OPPOSITION TO REPLACE BUHARI- SEE DETAILS

Despite the public posturing of its leaders, indication emerged this week that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have conceded defeat to President Buhari but the party don’t want to appear to give up so easily hence its continued public show of defiance.

Though it is believed that the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar is serious about pursuing his case to the tribunal, there are indication that many of the party bigwigs are not in support of the move and are more disposed to use the party’s resources to assist its members in the Governorship and States House of Assembly elections scheduled to take place this weekend.

An indication of this stands was on display on Tuesday when Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara decided to stay away from the meeting called by the party executive to discuss the outcome of the elections and fashioned a way forward.

Saraki who lost his seat at the Senate to the APC has congratulated the winner of the elections in his constituency and he is said to be disposed to Atiku doing same, while Dogara, who won his reelection bid to the House of Representatives is believed to be in favour of organising the PDP in the National Assembly so as to play a robust opposition role to the APC.

Also, reports suggest that the PDP is working with some APC members, particularly in the South East in preparation for the 2023 elections. This is due to the assumption that the Presidency will be zoned to the East by both political parties come 2023.

Another report has it that an APC governor who is keen on replacing President Buhari in the next electoral cycle has also been in contact with the with the opposition in a bid to maximise his chances of clinching the top seat.

In a related development, the APC in Imo state has accused the governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha destroying the party so as to fulfil his ambition to be president.

Speaking to reporters, the Imo State All Progressives Congress, APC, the caretaker committee chairman, Marcellinus Nlemigbo has stated that the problems the state chapter of the party is experiencing is due to the ambition of Okorocha.
“The problem with Governor Okorocha is that he is playing god. He has been using the name of the President to commit a lot of havoc, boasting that he controls the President and the Imo State Commissioner of Police.

“He was shocked when he was suspended by the party and it was even more laughable when he claimed that the President was not aware of his suspension and we wonder whether Okorocha thinks our dear President is a member of AA,” Nlemigbo said.
“You can see his flimsy excuse that Comrade Oshiomhole, the national chairman of our party suspended him due to 2023 presidential ambition.

“This is a governor who cannot even win an election in his own senatorial district despite being a sitting governor and today, he is involved in a very controversial exercise due to the way and manner he was declared winner.

“Yet, he is talking about 2023 presidency just to seek attention when President Buhari is yet to commence his second term,” he added.

We are not surprised that everything about Okorocha is his ambition. That is why he wants his entire family to govern Imo State.

He should be ashamed of himself because he has reduced the office of a governor to that of a sycophant, always seeking attention,” the caretaker APC chairman concluded.
